I am sure we will once again have a lot of teams playing in tournaments this weekend.
With temperatures forecasted to hit over 30 degrees, please ensure all precautions are taken.
Plenty of fluids. This isn't just on the day of your tournament but get plenty on board over the next three or four days.
Take plenty of fluids. Whilst some tournaments will be providing plenty of water stations, this will not apply to all. Don't wait for your child to ask for a drink.
Also plenty of snacks. Energy and salty snacks. A lot of salt is lost on a hot day.
Plenty of sun cream.
Cool boxes. Plenty of ice. Take a small towel that you can soak and keep in the cool box to help keep their temperatures down.
Gazebos, hats and umbrella's. Plenty of shade. Take seats and encourage to take a rest between games.
Top Tip
Freeze some small bottles of water overnight. They will keep everything cold until they are ready to drink.
Things to be watch out for with heat exhaustion:
Feeling faint
Extreme tiredness (eg, unusually sleepy, drowsy, or hard to arouse)
Headache
Fever
Intense thirst
Not urinating for many hours
Nausea
Vomiting
Breathing faster or deeper than normal
Skin numbness or tingling
Muscle aches
Muscle spasms
All these symptoms point to heat exhaustion.
Pale skin and light hair tends to be related more to heat exhaustion.
Don't be afraid to call 111 or 999 in extreme circumstances.
We hope everyone enjoys their tournaments this weekend and stays safe.
Please share amongst your teams.
